The Rambler® Classic portable guitar features standard dual humbucking pickups and separate tone and volume controls. The guitar comes with a fully adjustable tuneomatic bridge, locking tuners, and custom thumbwheels. Ever wanted to easily take your electric bass guitar with you when you travel? Now you can with the new Rambler® Custom Bass! This travel size bass guitar breaks down to fit in your luggage. Simply remove the patented StringKeeper™ to wrap the strings around the body and take off the neck by loosening four thumbwheels. The body and neck can then be stowed separately for travel. The Rambler® portable guitar bass goes back together in less than two minutes with no tools required.
The Rambler® Bass is a professional electric bass guitar introduced at the Newport Guitar Festival in April 2010. The overall length of the Rambler® Bass is 35” when assembled, with a 28 ½” scale length. The Strobel™ Bass plays and sounds like a Fender® Precision Bass. Also available as a Fretless model, it can be ordered with an optional Fretless neck. We offer Schaller® PBX pickups, Schaller® 3-D4 fully adjustable roller bridge and Schaller® custom tuning machines.
The Rambler® comes with a removable StringKeeper™ for fast assembly and a StringCatcher™ to protect the finish when the strings are wrapped around the body. The neck has 21 medium jumbo frets, a double-action truss rod, and an adjustable nut. Custom guitars are finished in Nitrocellulose lacquer with your choice of color, and offer personalized neck shaping with your initials inlaid in the fretboard. When ordering a custom Rambler® Portable Bass Guitar, you select the wood for the body – typically Swamp Ash or Honduran Mahogany with a Flamey Maple top. Available neck woods include Maple or Mahogany with your choice of Pau Ferro, Ebony or Rosewood fretboard. The Strobel Rambler® Custom Travel Right- and Left-Handed Bass Guitars start at $1899 with a 50% deposit due at time of order.
At Strobel, we’re dedicated to crafting the top custom guitars on the market. We select the finest tone woods for your Rambler® Custom travel guitar, usually Honduran Mahogany or Swamp Ash for the bodies. We add a flamey maple top to brighten the sound and to enhance the visual appeal of the portable guitar. Necks are made from Mahogany or Maple, with an Indian or Honduran Rosewood fretboard. Dark Ebony fretboards are also available. After gluing the bodies, templates get attached to define the top and bottom body contours. Holes are drilled, cavities routed, and necks and bodies are matched to ensure a perfect fit. The necks are shaped to your specifications, matching any neck contour you desire.
This custom headless guitar comes with your initials inlaid in the fretboard. Custom inlay is also available. Other options include a AAA quilted maple top, piezo bridge with stereo output, onboard pre-amp, knurled or ebony tuning keys, gold hardware, or coil tapped pickups for a single-coil sound. After many hours of sanding and preparation, your custom-built travel guitar goes to the spray booth where we apply over a dozen coats of nitrocellulose lacquer, with your choice of color. Guitars are then assembled, wired and set up to your specifications.
