Russ has been playing guitar since he was about twelve years old. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering and has been working with portable electronics for over twenty five years. His career has demanded extensive travel and he constantly missed having a guitar during his trips throughout the world.
Several years ago Russ began to formulate the designs for a professional executive travel guitar, and has now patented his design with the US Patent Office. The Strobel Guitar company was founded in 2001 to meet the needs of the traveling executive musician. Manufacturing commenced in October 2003, with the 2005 series now under way.
